                Awards Gala


Tuesday, April 30, 2013 6-8:30 pm

Come join us as we celebrate the creative talent of students throughout the nine county Finger Lakes Region. The Awards Gala will feature a screening of the winning videos in the "STEM You Can" contest at an awards ceremony that includes a buffet dinner, a ride on the Bathysphere Underwater Biological Laboratory (BUBL™), local celebrities and music by the
Gregory Street Blues Band. The Awards Gala will be the culmination of the video contest and will take place on Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at the Rochester Museum & Science Center.

Co-Hosts:
Don Alhart, active community volunteer and broadcast anchor for Channel 13WHAM-TV, has been honored five times with the prestigious Edward R. Murrow Award and has been inducted into the New York State Broadcasters' Association Hall of Fame.


Helene Biandudi is the education reporter for the WXXI News team.  Helene also serves as host and reporter/producer for WXXI's award-winning weekly news and public affairs program, Need To Know Rochester.

 




Judges:
Dr. Matthew Augustine is the former CEO of Eltrex and current CEO of BioDrill, producing renewable energy products for the education and research markets.

 

Jack Garner, a staff film critic at the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle for 30 years before retiring in 2007, continues to freelance with the newspaper

 Bonnie Garner, retired from Monroe #1 BOCES, is actively involved in the Challenger and BUBL programs at RMSC.


Karen Iglesia is CEO of Iglesia Education Centers, the largest urban tutoring company in upstate New York, and is currently planning opening the Infinite Horizons Charter School in 2014.

 

 

Glenn Johnson, a member of the National Weather Association and the American Meteorological Society, is the chief meteorologist on 13WHAM News at 5, 6, and 11.
